Breaking: The Golden Knights have parted ways with head coach Gerard Gallant

Gallant, who had one year remaining on his contract in Vegas, was informed of the coaching change this morning…..DeBoer will join the team in Ottawa and will be behind the bench when they face the Sens Thursday night.

April 2019: Gerard Gallant calls Pete DeBoer a “clown”
January 2020: Gerard Gallant is replaced by….Pete DeBoer
I get it…the Knights have had a rough first two weeks of January…..Gallant is relieved of his duties after a 601 winning percentage two playoff appearances and a SCF visit (Gallant brought a band of literal (Golden) misfits to the Cup final that year and really have been competitive ever since), plus won the Jack Adams in 2018.  Since entering the NHL the Golden Knights are 118-75-20 under Gallant….the 9th best record in the NHL…..can’t wrap my head around what Las Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon rationale was here.  Gallant should not be the scapegoat here…instead it should be the front office’s poor salary cap management, due to lack of cap space the team was forced to trade away talented players such as Haula.
Seven head coaches lost their job this year….the parity in this league is beyond any other professional league….any team can win on any given night.
Does this mean now that Gallant will be the new head coach for the Seattle expansion team……what a better way to kickstart a franchise than with the coach who took a projected 13 win new franchise team to the SCF. (If I am Ron Francis I wouldn’t hesitate to hire Gallant tomorrow)
